Quietly Excited…

What excites you…a question posed on a Facebook status…I read the responses…clicked like on each of them…but…in that moment…I couldn’t answer…

Maybe because it was too early in the morning…well…it is hard to get excited about much before the rooster crows…but…Bertha…says it’s more than that…

According to her I’ve been taking myself too seriously lately…focusing more on the concrete…the absolute…the negative…the what is

And…she’s right…I have…I’ve had a couple of glitches…lately…that I have taken very seriously…

She goes on to point out…that my contemplation time…has become more of…desperation time…solve this…fix that…instead of a time…of filling my emotional tank…

Normally…contemplation time…opens my eyes…to the beauty around me…to the things that excite me…but when…I approach it from a negative place…it simply…leaves me…empty…and…that being empty is why I couldn’t answer the question…

Hmmm…

So…I contemplated for a few minutes…and…the answer came to me…

Quiet time

Quiet time…excites me…because…the more quiet time I have…the more…I become…the person I want to be…

PS…back to the contemplation chair…

Tooting the Horn…Tammy Novak…

The mind…is a strange and unusual thing…at least mine is…I would have sworn…on a stack of Bibles…no lessif I did that kind of thing…that I had recently had my friend…and bestselling author…Tammy Novak…as a guest on my blog…

Wrong…

Although…I was so convinced…that I spent quite a good bit of time…looking for it…of course to no avail…

Bertha…just laughed…saying that…mind games…or…tricks…were in keeping with…Tammy’s new book…The Abduction of Lilly Waters…a psychological thriller…about…a pregnant Beth who is escaping an abusive boyfriend with her daughter Lilly…

Here’s a clip…

“Sucking in her fear she tried once again to unlock the stubborn bathroom lock. Finally, she was able to get it to click and she threw the door open. It slammed with a loud thud against the side wall. She didn’t know how much time had passed. It must’ve only been several seconds, but seconds when a child’s safety is concerned is too long. The bathroom was empty; Lilly was gone.”

I have to say…the book is powerful…it grabbed me…and…I had to hold on for dear life…as it took me through one twist after another…until the very…unexpected…end…

When…Tammy…isn’t writing…she’s a middle-grade teacher…wife…mom to four busy boys…and a great friend…not necessarily in that order…she is originally from Connecticut and currently resides in Arizona…

She has several other books in the works for children and young adults…and…I can’t wait to read them…

Bertha…pointed out…that…Tammy and I do have one big thing in common…and it isn’t our gripping writing style…rather…both of our books are illustrated by our sister…

So…a big shout out…to Latisha Wood…for such an excellent cover…

I hope you’ll check out…The Abduction of Lilly Waters…I know you won’t be disappointed…
