In keeping with the theme of the blog hop…Bertha…asked me…what is my sign that Spring has sprung…

ButtercupsFor me…Spring officially arrives when the…buttercups…bloom…now…most people call them…daffodils…but for some reason…in my little corner of the world…we’ve always called them…buttercups…and…since I’m an old dog…I don’t intend to call them anything else…besides…they were my Granny’s favorite flower…and it just wouldn’t seem fair to her memory to correct their name now…

Anyway…what I love about buttercups…is that they bloom while it is still winter…sometimes early enough that Punxsutawney Phil picks a bouquet while he looking for his shadow…they are like a personal promise to me…that Spring is really coming…

Frosty ButtercupsThe funny thing is…once the buttercups bloom…we can usually count on a snow…often the only one of the season…this year was no exception…as buttercups all over the county found themselves peeking out of ten inches of the white fluffy stuff…followed by a few days of icing…

Luckily…buttercups are very resilient and generally…take a snowing and keep on growing…looking just as lovely after the snow and ice as before…

Now…Bertha…says that buttercups remind her of life dreams…

Bertha…says that like with buttercups…we plant the bulbs for our dreams…and sometimes…they start to show up…before we expect them…and then… something comes along…like a big snow…and they are totally obscured from our vision…but…instead of being patient and waiting for the inevitable thaw…we think all is lost…and move on…never going back to pick the lovely bouquet that is just waiting for us…

Hmmm…from now on…when I visualize my dreams…I think I’ll see them surrounded by a field of buttercups…it couldn’t hurt…

Today’s Forecast…Partly Happy…

Yesterday was a beautiful day…sunny…high in the sixties…not bad for mid-February…especially when last week it was snowing and freezing…

Yes…weather in the South is fickle…and…there were a few patches of snow in the shady spots to remind me of that…of course…Bertha…says…it reminds her of my life…of my emotions in particular…

She says…that they seem to change as often as the weather…happy…sad…angry…glad…no one emotion hanging around for too long at the time…

However…she surprises me by saying that’s the way it should be…she says we weren’t meant to feel the exact same way all the time…that…growth takes place in the changing of the emotions…and…that each one has its purpose…just as snow and sunshine have theirs…
