Dance of Truth…

Bertha…and I have been talking a lot about truth lately…in fact…truth…is my Dance Your Danceone word intention for 2015…

She…says…there’s always another truth…to find…to own…to live…and the more I live my truth…the more truths I will discover…she also promises we will be discovering many truths this coming year…

So…today…Bertha…is whisper-shouting to me…that…I don’t have to listen to what they say…

She reminds me that…everyone…has an opinion about what and how I should do things…and that while I actually will listen to them…that…I don’t have to accept their opinion as my truth…I don’t have to become their puppet…and allow them to pull the strings for my dance…

Instead…she tells me it’s okay to weigh their opinion against my truth… accept what resonates with me…and…dance my own dance…

Jane…

I would love to hear how you handle other’s opinions in the comments.

  1. Congratulations! I’ve learned that other’s opinions are colored by their own history and that I absolutely, positively must live my life according to no one but me. I can learn from others, but as you said, I go inside and check out whether it is right for me or not.

  2. It’s your dance alright. This is such an important lesson. I find myself talking to my son about it a lot. When asks questions I say, some people think that… I think that… And others think differently. What do you think? So different from what I was taught, absolute truths that we’re not true. Not for me anyway. Love your word of the year.

    • Rachel,

I love your responses to your son. I agree, we were not taught to explore our truth as children but to do as we were told. Wishing you a truth-filled year.

    • Hello, Candi and welcome. Bertha is more an inner wisdom (and the character in my books) than I ‘real’ person…but don’t tell her that…she thinks she’s real.

  3. Jane,

Always interested in what “Bertha” has to share about life, love and well, today, truth. I too have been better (at times) with dancing in my own truth and not worrying about what others think or say. My obstacle that I run up against within myself is accepting my space in the world and not comparing mine with other peoples (feeling like my space is smaller, not as “valid” as others). Need to consistently remind myself that I own my space and it’s mine to be shared with noone and vice versa. We each have our own words to share. That’s my truth! WHOOHOO!

    • Thank you Teresa for sharing your truth journey. I agree, it is all too easy to compare our space and our validity with others…love that you will be reminding yourself that your space is perfect. Happy 2015!

  4. This particular phrase gave me chills – in the good way: she also promises we will be discovering many truths this coming year…

WHOA. This hit me deep because 2014, it seems, was a year of uncovering my truth. And – 2015 feels like it’s going to be a year to live it.
