Finding My Pace…

I was talking to my daughter yesterday…and…the conversation drifted to her training for an upcoming half marathon…she’d been on a run the evening before with a group…and another one that morning…her mile per minute times for the two runs was fairly different…even though the morning run was longer…her times were better…

The interesting thing about this…is that…she attributed the slower pace on the shorter run…to starting out pacing with a faster runner…then…beginning to cramp…having to walk…and…then…having difficulty finding her natural pace again…the second day…she started and finished…following her natural pace…

This reminded me of something…Mama…has always said…start out…like…you can hold out…now…although…this is excellent advice for athletes…Mama…like Bertha…was relating it to my life…

Her advice…was given for relationships…you know…that honeymoon period…when you want to do everything for your…honey…spend every waking minute with him…wait on him hand and foot…do you really want to do that for the rest of your life…because…that’s what he’s gonna expect…

I should have listened to her…instead…I fell down that well more than a few times…but…I digress…

Really…it applies to everything…from volunteering…to parenting…to the workplace…to socializing…to spending money…to helping children…to dieting…and…I guess…even to social media…writing…marketing…

There really isn’t anything…that I can think of…that it doesn’t apply to…

Bertha…loves to be in the company of…Mama…when it comes to imparting…wisdom…and…telling me how to live my life…in fact…I can already…tell…that she is planning how to use that phrase…in an upcoming story…

Hmmm…I wonder what she’ll have me over doing…just to prove her point…geez…
