For the Love of Money…

This morning…as I was speculating…and…bemoaning…about…how much money it was going to take for the month of December…Bertha…reminded me…that…it’s okay…to…love money…and…to even appreciate…that…my expenses…will approximately double for the month…

Huh…I can…kind of…sort of…understand about loving money…but…I’m not sure I get…appreciating twice as much of it leaving my wallet over the next few weeks…

Of course…she is happy to explain…

Seems as though…every time I spend money…several people are blessed…beginning with me…

I’m blessed to have the goods and services that are provided for me in exchange for the dollars I expend…I’m blessed to have good quality food to eat…a reliable car to drive…a warm house to call home…internet…phone…cable service…and…all the things that I generally spend money for each month…

I’m also blessed that…I have friends and family…whom I love…and want to share gifts with…it blesses me…to see their faces as they open the packages on Christmas…blesses me…to know they are pleased…and know that they are loved…

It blesses me…to be able to prepare tasty meals…meals that bring back treasured memories…and to share them with others…

And…my blessings continue to grow…but…she is also reminding me…of the blessings that others reap…with every dollar I spend…someone has a job…because…people like me…buy that product or service…my nephew and his wife work for the power company…when I pay my bill…I contribute to their livelihood as well…

For every toy or book or bauble I buy…someone…made it…wrote it…packaged it…delivered it…many…many…hands touched it…and will be blessed by my purchase…

And…although…her words…don’t stretch my budget…they do make it a bit easier…to love the money that I have…to appreciate how much I will be spending…and…to make this a blessed season…for many people…especially…me…

  1. More wise words from Bertha, hope you both enjoy the season of giving – don’t forget that you will also receive from others.
    Joy x x

  2. Bertha, you keep my on my toes… 😉

    Budget restrictions doesn´t count (too much) when you feel blessed for all the little things you have…

    I mean it, don´t take it as a cliché for all those things & moments are worth it and at the end do make our lives even happier…

    Cheers Jane & have a good week ahead;

    Aquileana 😉
