This or That?

I’m finding that as much as I want to…I can’t do everything…and that’s not Jane Carrolljust a control thing…although…I do like to be in control…no…it’s more of a… if I do this…then…I don’t have time to do that…and…I have to choose which one to do…

I’m not sure how mothers with young children do it…pulled in twenty directions at all times…working fulltime…keeping up with the kids’ activities when they get home…cooking…cleaning…committees…although I know I once did it…I’m exhausted just typing it…

Bertha…is reminding me this morning…to be gentle with myself…make the choices for what I want to do…what I can do…and let the guilt of the other things go…

I know she’s right…and…so…I write…at least for now…

Jane

PS…I’m so excited that Becoming Bertha…is available for pre-order…and will be fully released on November 6, 2014…I hope you’ll gift yourself with a copy…

Pointing Fingers…

I’ve been asked a time or two…well…maybe I haven’t…but I thought you Jane Carroll Authormight like to know…why I always write in the first person point of view…am I not concerned that people will think…I’m a basket case

I laugh…they’d be right…seriously…when I first started writing Bertha-Size Your Life!…that’s just the way it came out…all of the issues in the book weren’t mine…not at the moment…anyway…but…even though they were issues that were affecting others…it didn’t feel right to point my finger at them…telling them what to do…like I was some know-it-all

The truth of the matter is…although I haven’t always had the exact experience that I‘m writing about…I’ve experienced the emotion somewhere along the line…albeit wrapped in a different package…

So…when…Bertha…wants me to write about something…sometimes…it’s what I’m struggling with…and sometimes…not-so-much…but…I always know…I have to draw on my experience with that emotion…otherwise…I’m pointing that one finger in someone else’s direction…and…we all know where the other fingers are pointing…

So…I guess that’s why I write in first person…hmmm…who knew…

Jane
