Recently I was antiquing with a friend…and…although I found several things that sparked my interest…I passed them by…
Of course…my friend was curious as to why if I really liked something…did I not get it…
Well…the truth of the matter is…I’ve downsized houses about 4 times in the last ten years…in the process…I’ve kept only the things that I truly love…that have meaning to me…and…my house is full…anymore stuff…and it would be cluttered…
What I’ve learned through trial and error…is that…if I buy something new…I’ve got to give something up…so…anything I buy has to be so special…that I’m willing to give up something else…nothing I saw on that trip quite fit that bill…
But…wonders of wonders…a few weeks ago…I had bumped a favorite pottery piece…it was a couple…and…the man’s arm broke off…not to be daunted…I glued it back in place…however…he was determined to be an amputee…and it fell off again this weekend…I was about to go for the glue…when I remembered all the new things I’d seen on the shopping trip…and…how good it actually feels to be looking for and find…just the right piece for a special spot…
So…with a special ceremony…overseen by…Bertha…of course…I relegated the broken piece to the trash…while letting my mind wander to the treasure that will take its place…
Bertha…reminded me…it’s the same in my life…I have to let go…to make room for more…

Bertha is so wise. I’ve never looked at it that way before. I will from now on. It will make it easier to either pass something up, or…look around for something that has passed it’s prime and needs to go to make room for the newbie. Love it. Thanks Jane….and Ms B!
Queenie…thanks so much for stopping by and your comment. I’m enjoying looking at the empty spot and wondering what will go there. In the meantime…it’s not so bad just the way it is. Bertha says hello!
