I have a lot of rules…some important…some…not so much…some I stick to like glue…others…not so much…but…one that I pretty much adhere to…is…I don’t give money to kids at school…
Now…I’m not a total meanie…I will give them snack if they don’t have money for break…I keep cheese crackers and juice in my office…beyond that…I keep my money to myself…
Just this week…I was walking down the hall…and two Elementary students asked me for money…one wanted a quarter for candy…I said…NO…didn’t even feel guilty…the other…asked for seventy-five cents…there was a basketball game they could attend for a dollar…he had a dollar…but his younger brother didn’t…he didn’t want to go if his brother couldn’t…
I’ve seen them together…they are very close…he is very protective of his little brother…I knew without a doubt that he would have missed the game if his brother couldn’t go…and…he probably would have even given his money to his brother…letting him go…instead…
So…I broke my rule…I gave him a dollar…which was a small price to pay for the warm and loving feeling that he gave me…

PS…Bertha…says there are only two rules for me to live by…live my truth…and…beyond that…there are no rules…
How sweet… How nice of you! I’ll bet there is someone besides you telling this story and how thankful he is for you! And I’ll bet he won’t tell it just one time! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Mary…if he does retell the story…I hope he remembers that he is the true hero! Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you as well!
The rule to live your truth is a great one. Hugs!
Thanks, Christy! I agree it’s her best rule! Have a great day!
