Yesterday would have been Judy Garland’s ninetieth birthday…in her honor…TCM…showed…one of her most famous movies…The Wizard of Oz…before the movie…they played the fiftieth anniversary tribute…which gave a lot of behind the scenes information…it was a very enjoyable evening…

First of all…I rarely watch…TCM…don’t have anything against it…I just rarely think to go there…just happened to be scrolling and saw…The Wizard of Oz…and decided to hang out…for a while…

I did learn some things…like…the book was written in 1900…and the movie was released in 1939…73 years ago…Judy Garland was 16 at the time…

Now…I’ve been watching the movie…since I was a child…long enough ago…that we didn’t realize the movie switched from black and white to color…because…we only had black and white TVs at the time…

In my memory…it came on once a year…on a Sunday night…and…we would see part of it…and then leave to go to Church…I don’t know how old I was before I saw the movie in its entirety…or…in color…but…I know…obviously…at some point…I did…

Okay…enough meandering down memory lane…

I think what impressed me the most…was the fact…that a book written 112 years ago…and a movie released 73 years ago…continue to be relevant today…I mean…it had it all…witches…good and bad…wizards…other universes…flying monkey guards…just like…so many of the books and movies that are topping the charts today…with some different special effects…the movie could have been released yesterday…

The second thing that impressed me…was just how much the vernacular of my thoughts…has been influenced by the film…how often…phrases from the movie come to mind…in certain situations…how often I’ve clicked my…ruby reds…and…been glad to be going home…

The take away…for me…that…I have…everything…I need…right inside of me…all I have to do…is believe…is what I’ve been working on…most of my life…I know…I’m not completely there yet…I’m a work in progress…there on some levels…and not on others…

But…I know that my happiness…is in my own backyard…not somewhere over the rainbow…I have on…my…ruby reds…and…I’m clicking…

Now…Bertha…says…if I only had a brain…geez…
