Acmeā¦admit itā¦the word reminds you of Wile E. Coyoteā¦and his never ending pursuit to catch the Road Runner. The Acme box would arriveā¦and heād be blowing up somethingā¦usually himselfā¦but neverā¦everā¦the Road Runner.
Bertha and I were reminiscing about those good old days of wholesome cartoonsā¦although perhaps a coyote with a dynamite plunger really isnāt that wholesomeā¦but I digressā¦when she floored me with an insight.
Seems to Berthaā¦we are all a bit villainous ourselvesā¦continuingly trying the same old tricks and never getting the wanted results. Opening Acme boxes of the latest weight loss gimmicksā¦only to have the pounds blow up in our faces. Watching the same movies, reading the same booksā¦only to continue to think the same thoughts. Thinking the same thoughtsā¦only to find we feel the same. Dating the same type of manā¦believing that this one will be differentā¦only to end up alone and confused. Maxing out our credit cardsā¦thinking this month Iāll pay them offā¦only to end up further in debt.
Wellā¦she said a whole lot more than thatā¦we are talking about Berthaā¦she said Albert Einstein was probably thinking about us when he defined insanityā¦doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Of course she had recommendations on how we can regain our sanityā¦and change our resultsā¦
Try something differentā¦get off the sofa and take a walk in the fresh airā¦read a different type of bookā¦Bertha-Size Your Life does come to mindā¦try a new foodā¦(but she slapped my hand when I reached for a new brand of caramel candy at the storeā¦hey she should have been more specific)ā¦join a new groupā¦volunteerā¦smileā¦spend some time getting to know yourselfā¦set a budget and follow itā¦leave the lounge lizards at the loungeā¦better yetā¦stop going to the loungeā¦her list was endlessā¦but I think you get the pictureā¦
Thankfully, all of those werenāt directed at meā¦and hopefully not at you, eitherā¦but once Bertha gets on a rollā¦thereās not much stopping herā¦best to let her rambleā¦
Iām still thinking about that caramel candyā¦maybe I could sneak out and get some without her knowingā¦what do you thinkā¦insanity?

I think Bertha was definitely talking to me. Thanks for relaying the message Jane! š
Edie…Thanks…I just write what I'm told…if Bertha could type…I'd be out of a job!
Tell Bertha to stop picking on me!
Sorry, Peggy…she picks on me ALL the time…have to share it with you sometimes…LOL!
Gotta love that Roadrunner and Wile C., and Bertha always stands out from the rest !
Forget that sneaking out idea…it is insanity if you think Bertha won’t know š There will be a price to pay@#*^@*
You got that right Bea…I can’t sneak anything by her!
