Birdhouse for Sale…Owner Financing…

Yesterday…was the first day that I was able to sit outside…in my Granny’s rocker…to eat breakfast…now…I don’t know about you…but I happen to think that oatmeal tastes even better…when eaten on the porch…

I was amazed…although I shouldn’t be…it happens every year at this time…that in seemingly only a couple of days…the birds were out in full force…the squirrels were back…playing hopscotch on the fence…drinking out of the bubbling rock…scampering across the yard…

And…there was a bluebird couple checking out the little house on the fence…the one I precariously placed there a couple of years ago…ignoring my broken arm…only to have it remain empty…nary a bluebird in sight…

Anyway…this couple checked it out for quite some time…first the male came…he fluttered all around it…he perched on the roof…he poked his head inside…the fluttered around…sat on the fence…perched on the roof…poked his head inside…flew away…came back…did it all again…several times…then…along came his mate…interestingly…she came up behind him as he was having a peek…pushing him inside so she could get her head in…then…she fluttered around…perched on the roof…well…you get the picture…

Then…they left…not sure if they’ll move in or not…I would have loved to hang around to see what happened next…but my bowl was empty and other things were calling me…

Bertha…in all her wisdom…and from watching many HGTV programs…did point out…that it would appear…that the woman still has the final say…even in birdhouse shopping…

Bluebird of Happiness…Not Up My Nose…

A few years ago…when I lived in my great aunt and uncle’s old home place…there was a bluebird house…right up next to the porch…and it has home to Betty and Bill…the most beautiful bluebird couple you’d ever want to see…I loved watching them as they raised their families…
When I moved here…of course…I wanted a bluebird house…
So…the first spring…I purchased a nice little house…sure to make any bluebird family happy…I broke my arm the next day…before installing the house…making installation much more challenging…if you can imagine standing on a steep slope…attempting to hold a bird house with a broken arm…while attaching it to the fence with the other arm…thankfully…my right arm…and…if you are laughing…you should have come and helped…geez…
Anyway…I was proud as punch…I’d seen some bluebirds in the neighborhood…I was certain they would move right in…
Wrong…
I placated myself that spring…maybe I was late…maybe they had already signed a lease for the year…maybe…they would come the next spring…
Wrong…
The next spring…I saw a particularly large bluebird…or maybe it was a robin with poor circulation…attempting to squeeze into the tiny bluebird sized opening…finally…tenants…
Wrong…
I just looked out at the bubbling rock…and there are…bluebirds…having a sip of cool water…possibly taking a break from house hunting…they could be moving in…or…I could be…
Wrong…it’s happened before…
