Light Socket Moment…

Spring arrived this weekend…a little late perhaps…but…it arrived…and…I was chomping at the bits to get outside and…dosomething…ride my bike…pot some plants…pull some weeds…anything…it just seemed wrong to stay inside and waste the beautiful weather…

But…I was sick all last week…with a combination of virus and allergies…and…although I was feeling better…my eyes would go crazy itching and watering every time I went outside…

I whined as…Bertha…drug me back inside the house and locked the door…until she reminded me…this is the first of spring…not the end…there will be many lovely weekends to enjoy the great outdoors…my bike isn’t going anywhere…it’s still a bit early to pot those plants…I will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy doing the things I love…once I get over this little snip of an illness I’ve had…and…the best way to get over it…is to…quit doing the things that aggravate it…to allow myself to heal…

Of course…she then went on to relate it to my life…doesn’t she always…reminding me of times when I continually revisited memories that were uncomfortable…or painful…instead of moving on in my life…she said doing that…made about as much sense as continually sticking my finger in a light socket…to see if the power was still on…

Hmmm…well…since she puts it like that…maybe…I’ll stay inside a few more days…

Until I Know…

Spring is arriving…I’m not sure that it is time for it…by all accounts…it’s early…but…the leaves are popping out…even from yesterday till today…lots of new buds…
I’m ready for spring…ready for warmer weather…ready for flowers…ready for longer days…ready for bike rides…ready for fresh herbs…and veggies…I should celebrate…
And yet…I hold back…a bit of apprehension…stifling my joy…is it too soon…will a freeze kill my buds…will it get the strawberry crop…the peaches…the blueberries…all my favorites…and…the answer is…I don’t know…I won’t know…until…I know…
Bertha…says…that’s the way of life…I can celebrate…or…I can hold back…but…I’ll never know…until I know…
Today…I celebrate…
