As I enjoyed a cup of coffee on the porch this morning…my thoughts ran to…what else…the weather…the garden was still wet from a mid-night shower…the fourth day of rain in a row…following four weeks without…
Of course it came to mind…if I controlled the weather…we’d get rain…about every other night…while I was asleep…there would be…no dry spells…no grey days on endless days…it would be in a word…perfect…
Enter…Bertha…reminding me that plants are a lot like me…our roots grow deeper and stronger during the dry spells…that without the drought…roots would be superficial…not strong enough for support…we’d all fall down…
Hmmm…
A conversation I had with God several years ago…came floating through my mind…no…there wasn’t a burning bush…or a loud booming voice…just a quiet knowing…that the world had gotten along just fine…for thousands of years before I came along…and while my efforts at running things were certainly appreciated…they weren’t necessary…essentially…thanks for applying for the position of…World Controller…but…seriously…the job is filled by a much more qualified applicant…don’t call us…we’ll call you…
I try to remember that conversation…but…from time to time…I forget…thankfully…Bertha…doesn’t…she’s got the memory of an elephant…and she’s not afraid to use it…if you know what I mean…
As for the weather…carry on…everything’s perfect…just the way it is…

Love this! God does have a way of (gently, even humorously) putting us back in our place. Thank goodness. 🙂
Becca…thanks for your comment and I couldn’t agree with you more. I must admit I’ve been put in my place on more than one occassion. 🙂
