The year is 2012…and I have finally entered the 21st Century…I purchased a 4G iPhone…now…before you get excited…I know…there’s a 4GS out…so I’m already behind…but…I’m ahead of where I was…which was my daughter’s hand-me-down 3G…given to me to replace what was one step up from a bag phone…well…maybe two steps…but it was pretty obsolete…
The thing was…it worked…it made phone calls…no…it didn’t do the neat things that the smart phones do…it was definitely in the slow readers group…but it made phone calls…
I guess the thing is…I’m not a techy groupie…I obviously don’t upgrade every two years…just because I can…I don’t trade cars as soon as that new car smell is fading…it’s just not who I am…
But…that being said…I was like a kid in a candy store last night…suddenly texting was more fun…my fingers landed on the correct keys more easily…getting online was a breeze… I added Twitter…I added Facebook…I read a blog…okay…it was mine…just checking it out…but…I must say…I loved the new phone…
Now…my mind is drifting…the new cars are made to interface with the phones…hmmm…
Bertha…quickly reminds me of how much I enjoy not having a car payment…
And…what can I say…she’s right…that is why I don’t drive a new car…I love not having a payment…so for now…I’ll enjoy my new toy…and drive my old reliable…
Jane
PS…if you’ve read Bertha-Size Your Life!…you know…Bertha…drives a ‘56 Thunderbird…you don’t think surely…she hasn’t had it all these years…has she…I’d better check her phone…
I don’t even at the moment own a cell phone, like who would I call Agnes and Eleanor. I drive my paid off 2002 Sunfire that is minus a radio via some lovely person stealing it over five years ago. Nope, I never replaced it.
Madison…I feel you! For me the cell is foremost a safety feature when I travel alone…but I admit that I’m spoiled to it as well. My car gets me where I need to go…and I like it…so I’ll be keeping it as long as I can!
I’m a bit shocking on the phone… I hang out until the 18 month mark on my 24 month plan and hit them up for the early upgrade option. I don’t *do* slow, patience has never been my strong suit. So when it’s nearing that 18 month mark on my phone I really notice it slowing down.
I would love to replace my car but I too like not having to make payments.
Ahhh…Jess…who would have guessed? Seeing the difference in how this one works and my old one did…I may join you. That one was probably 5 years old…and really didn’t function well for social media…hopefully this one will. Thanks for visiting!
A friend left me his cell phone an few months ago and after trying to make a phone call I only reached the 911 operator. Too complicated for my foggy mind 😀
I will keep to the old land line.
Thanks for stopping by, Francis. It’s funny…I don’t use mine all that much…much rather use the landline…but…when I want it…I want a good one! Have a great day.
