It happened just after I went to bed last night…crash…I thought it was the icemaker dumping…but…alas…it wasn’t…it was…the…sprangly tree…
Now…although…I know why it fell…it had such a tiny trunk…that although we had tightened the screws all the way…it just wasn’t enough to hold it in place…what…I don’t understand…is…why…
Why…at that exact moment…what was the straw that broke the Christmas Tree’s back…was it the present that had been placed under it…the special new ornament…the fact that I touched it briefly when I passed by earlier…
What…why…
Bertha…laughed…oh…not at the poor tree…not at the broken ornaments…not at the water that bucked the wood floor just a bit…no…she laughed at the silliness of my question…
Reminding me…in life…there is rarely a defined…what…why…at least not one that I can recognize…that I can hold in my hand…as I cross invisible lines…
Jane
If trees could only talk…on second thought…we have enough talk…
PS: Put the tree in a bucket of sand (wet) Bertha should have known ?
Merry Christmas~
LOL…Bea…Bertha kept quiet about that…shame on her!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas to you my friend!
Aw.. I feel for you! I must admit that I’d be little pissy about broken ornaments. Did you get the tree back up and standing?
Yes…it is standing again…and…the water soaking into the hardwood really hurt the most…since my favorite two ornaments (baby’s first Christmas) were spared. Thanks!
Ohhhh the poor poor tree – and poor Jane all snug in bed when it happened! I hope you were able to get the tree back up – Happy Holidays, sweet friend!
It’s all back up…and surrounded by presents…and two curious little girls! Happy Holidays to you as well!
