This has been a very good year for Mama’s pear tree…its branches are filled with fruit…I’ve picked a bunch…and I know several other people have as well…but…the upper branches…the ones that are out of even a tall person’s reach…are loaded…and…honestly will probably go to waste…because…I for one…for many reasons…won’t be climbing up the ladder…to bring them down…
Bertha…although she didn’t offer to scamper up the ladder…did offer her observation…that…it reminded her of my life…
She says that it’s not that the things I want…aren’t available…they are…it’s just that…they’re a bit out of reach…when…I’m standing on the ground…doing things the same way I’ve always done them…and…that sometimes…I have to climb the ladder in order to get them…
Hmmm…
I can do that…I can climb the metaphorical ladder…I can reach my dreams…but…Mama’s pears are just gonna have to stay on the tree until the wind blows them down…
If you know what I mean…
Jane

Beautiful post, Jane. Someone once told me they were waiting for inspiration to come in order for them to follow their dreams of writing a novel. I simply told them if they chose to wait, they might be waiting for a very long time.
Sometimes, we have to climb the ladder and reach for our dreams, even though they might seem far away. Inspiration comes and goes, but perseverance is something we can never take for granted.
Thank you so much, Geena. I absolutely agree…we’ve got to climb the ladder…but I believe we get inspiration with every rung. 😉
