Granny…had a wedding purse…it was white…smallish…had a hand strap…Jane Carrolland a big gold clasp at the top…it also had a couple of smushed plastic flowers on the front encased by a layer of clear plastic…

Yeah…it really wasn’t very pretty…but evidently she liked it…and for years she must have carried it to every wedding she went to…

Now…being a child I never paid any attention to what purse she was carrying…so I had no recollection of the…wedding purse…until…we were going through her things as we made ready to sell her house after her death…and there it was…a little unassuming…a little gaudy…white bag…that when I opened it…held a wealth of family history…

Wedding napkins…

Years and years of wedding napkins…evidently she collected one from each reception…and just stuck it in her purse for safe keeping…

As we pulled out each one…and straightened it out…one thing became quite clear…

Many of the napkins had outlived the marriages…my own included…

I hadn’t thought of the purse for a while…even though it is in a box somewhere in my stuff…napkins intact…until…Bertha…brought it to my mind this morning…as I was contemplating…and a bit hesitant about doing a blog on the release of…Where the Joys Are: Bertha’s Guided Journal

My hesitancy came from the fact…that it is…time sensitive…that if someone stumbles upon the entry in a year…it is no longer…relevant

And…I’m not totally sure what the relevancy of Granny’s purse is to blogging the release of WTJA

So…Bertha…explains…it’s okay to record a one-time event…especially a celebration…it’s okay if a year from now…even a week from now…it isn’t relevant…it’s relevant today…and that’s all that matters…

She said…that sometimes the most…unrelevant…things…are the things we cherish the most…

Hmmm…she’s right…I’m going to look for the wedding purse…and I hope you’ll be checking out…Where the Joys Are
