This morning I fired up the laptop… and turned on iTunes… my favorite songs were playing… but I couldn’t hear a thing. So… I did what I normally do when something isn’t working. I closed iTunes and reopened it. I checked the volume controls on the keyboard, the external keyboard, and on iTunes. I checked the internet connection. They were all fine… but… no sound. I have to admit… I was stymied. Just as I was considering that my computer might be crashing… Bertha… walked by… and… with a tug from her well-manicured hand… disconnected the earbuds I had used for a zoom call yesterday. Music blasted the room.

Another me… might have been frustrated… might have felt foolish… might have stuck the earbuds back in my ears so that I couldn’t hear… Bertha… chiding me.

Today’s me… was grateful that… Bertha… was here to save the day… was grateful that my computer has more life and sound left in it… was grateful for something to blog about.

Bertha… quit her chiding long enough to applaud me for my attitude of gratitude. Reminding me that… frustration begats more things to be frustrated about… while… gratitude begats more things to be grateful for.

So… now… I’m grateful for being grateful. What a fun day this is turning out to be… as I listen to… The House of the Rising Sun.
