Some years back…Tina Turner…asked the famous question…what’s love got to do with it…this morning…in honor of Valentine’s Day…Bertha…has a reply…
Everything…
Now…Bertha…isn’t talking about the steamy emotions…that sometimes feel like love…but turn out to be much more akin to hormones…no…she’s talking about…the love permeates most of the actions we take…whether we are aware of it at the time or not…
She’s talking about the times my mother…stayed up late after working all day…to sew me a new outfit for the ballgame on Friday night…when I had plenty of clothes in my closet…she’s talking about the trip I made to a college town…with chicken noodle soup…when my daughter had the flu…and then driving to another town…buying her a suit for an interview…hemming it…then driving back home…
She’s talking about my friend’s husband…who held her hair back while she had morning sickness…she’s talking about my grandmother…who ate chicken wings before they were a delicacy…because that’s what was left after everyone else got their favorite piece…
She’s talking about my co-worker…who will give her last penny to a student…even if she misses lunch that day…she’s talking about my neighbor…who moved her elderly mother into her home so she could take care of her until her death…
She’s talking about my sisters…who took turns staying with me…and cooking for me…after my Chiari surgery…
She’s talking about my daughters…who never once complained about the things they didn’t have growing up…or asked for what they knew I couldn’t do for them…
And…she’s talking about you…
Jane
Thank you, Jane. Happy Valentine’s Day! You just made mine much better.
Thank you, Peggy…your comment just made mine even better, too! Thanks for sharing that smile!
Happy Valentine’s day to you Jane. A bit sad, I know, but I’ve just got back from a 300 mile round trip, I attended the funeral of my cousin’s husband, Taffy. There was a service in the local chapel (he was Welsh) which was full to overflowing, and every single person there felt love for dear Taffy, it was an actual physical presence, he was such a popular guy and I was proud to be a part of it.
I’m so sorry for your family’s loss…but such an outpouring of love says so much about the person that he was. (((HUGS))) to you today!
Thanks so much Jane and Bertha! Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well! You sure say it all …
Love
Hella
Thank you Hella. I hope you have a wonderful day as well!
