I’ve always heard it said…that the last five pounds are the hardest to lose…and while I know that to be true from a metabolism standpoint…Bertha…argues…oh…who am I kidding…she doesn’t argue…she just tells me…and…she’s right…so I agree…
So…Bertha…tells me that it’s actually the first five that are more difficult…because…that’s when I am forming new eating habits…when I’m saying no to things I really want…and I haven’t had any tangible results…I’m still struggling to fasten my pants…and…it’s easy to give up and say…yes…I’ll have the cheesecake…it’s not like I’ve lost any weight any way…
But…after five pounds…my pants are more comfortable…no…not time for a size smaller…but…the old ones fit better…after that…it becomes easier to say…no…in fact…after the first five…I want the next five more than I want cheesecake…or…anything else that would sabotage my weight loss…
That won’t always be the case…there will come a point…that I will know I’m doing what I need to do…and that a treat here and there…won’t totally blow all my efforts…in fact…an occasional treat helps to keep the metabolism from dropping…but…that’s a few pounds and maybe a pants size away…
Interestingly…Bertha…says that…this isn’t just about weight loss…it’s about making any change in life…it’s most difficult to make the efforts when I can’t yet see the results…
And…of course she’s right…so many things come to mind…
Jane
I hate to admit it, but Bertha is sooooo right yet again!!!! How’d she get so smart anyway?? LOL!!!

I agree with Bertha! That first 5 lbs. are the hardest to lose. I started on a diet this morning, Jane. I’ll support you in your efforts if you’ll support me in mine! Happy dieting to you!
LOL…Peggy…I’ve been going for about 6 weeks now and have started making progress…so I will definitely support you and welcome your support in return. It is getting easier now!
So true that the start is the hardest. Keep at it gal and I’m proud of you!
Thanks, Christy…it’s been about 6 or 7 weeks now…so…I’m in the zone…mostly…LOL!
