I’ve always heard it said…that the last five pounds are the hardest to lose…and while I know that to be true from a metabolism standpoint…Bertha…argues…oh…who am I kidding…she doesn’t argue…she just tells me…and…she’s right…so I agree

So…Bertha…tells me that it’s actually the first five that are more difficult…because…that’s when I am forming new eating habits…when I’m saying no to things I really want…and I haven’t had any tangible results…I’m still struggling to fasten my pants…and…it’s easy to give up and say…yes…I’ll have the cheesecake…it’s not like I’ve lost any weight any way

But…after five pounds…my pants are more comfortable…no…not time for a size smaller…but…the old ones fit better…after that…it becomes easier to say…no…in fact…after the first five…I want the next five more than I want cheesecake…or…anything else that would sabotage my weight loss…

That won’t always be the case…there will come a point…that I will know I’m doing what I need to do…and that a treat here and there…won’t totally blow all my efforts…in fact…an occasional treat helps to keep the metabolism from dropping…but…that’s a few pounds and maybe a pants size away…

Interestingly…Bertha…says that…this isn’t just about weight loss…it’s about making any change in life…it’s most difficult to make the efforts when I can’t yet see the results…

And…of course she’s right…so many things come to mind…
