Lately…I’ve been enjoying watching the bumblebees…as they feast on my lavender…I remember thinking…there’s gonna be some delicious lavender honey somewhere…then…I wondered…do bumblebees make honey…
Of course…you know what I did…I Googled…how would I live without Google…but…I digress…
It seems as though bumblebees do make honey…in very small amounts…because they live in much smaller colonies…and…the article I read said it was too much work…for…too little honey…to raise them like…honeybees…
Bumblebee…honey…does taste about the same…but the color is a bit different…I’ll probably never know…as I doubt I’m going to follow one home…and ask for a sample…there was a picture of one’s stinger…and it was quite large…and…they can sting more than once…‘nuff said…
What the bumblebee does…that is of great benefit to humans…is cross pollinate our plants…one source said that without bumblebees…our food crops…as we know them…would be gone within four years…that’s right…no more Twinkies…okay…I know Twinkies aren’t a food group…not like chocolate…anyway…
I’d always heard…that aerodynamically…bumblebees should never be able to fly…however…I did find an article…that says that isn’t true…that they just fly by helicopter principles…not airplane…
So…anyway…Bertha…had to have her say about it…of course…it reminded her of my life…and…how sometimes…I need to take a lesson from the bumblebee…because…I give too much attention…to things that give me…too little return…
Hmmm…several things come quickly to mind…past relationships…marketing efforts…and…the list could continue…
But…she didn’t stop there…she reminded me…that sometimes…the mundane…less flashy…things that I do…without even thinking about them…bring me the best results…
Hmmm…that also brings to mind several situations from my life…past and present…
Then…she looked at my backside…and…allowed…that…even if we painted it with black and yellow stripes…she…still…didn’t think that…I would ever get off the ground…aerodynamics or not…
Geez…
Jane
Regardless of what Bertha says, I think you’re about ready to fly. And it will be your writing, not your aerodynamically challenged body, that sets you free. I’ll be watching for the fruits of your labor.

Awww…Peggy…that’s the sweetest thing anyone ever said to me…Thanks dear friend!
