Spread the love
They say your whole life flashes before you when you are drowningā¦wellā¦Iām here to tell youā¦when the phone rings in the middle of the nightā¦your whole future flashes before you in the few seconds it takes to get the lamp turned on and the phone answeredā¦that isā¦once youāve figure out what that horrible sound isā¦
At 1:30 a.m. the news can only be badā¦or not your newsā¦AKAā¦the wrong numberā¦the caller seemed just as muddled as I was by the fact that I wasnāt Tammyā¦I wish Iād told herā¦Noā¦Tammy is probably still asleep somewhereā¦but itās hard to think on your feetā¦when you were lying downā¦
Heart still racingā¦I made the requisite trip to the bathroom before attempting to settle back down for the remaining two and a half hours of snooze timeā¦about that time Bertha popped in to ask me what I was feelingā¦
My first response was to sayā¦aggravatedā¦but I reached down furtherā¦and realized that I was feeling reliefā¦relief that my parents were okayā¦relief that my daughters and granddaughters were safe and soundā¦relief that no one in my family was having a crisisā¦thatās what I was feelingā¦R-O-L-A-I-D-Sā¦doesnāt that spell reliefā¦
Soā¦Tammyā¦whoever you areā¦I hope that your phone call was of a pleasant natureā¦and that your loved ones are safeā¦just be sure they all put your number on speed dial from now onā¦okay?
Jane
