I don’t manage money very well…I told myself that for years…ever since my once-husband made the complaint…
And…for years…I made it be true…carelessly spending…without regard to how I was going to pay the bills when they came…but they always came… and my financial life was a downward spiral…
Until…
Bertha…whisper-shouted in my ear…is that how you want to live…is that how you want to handle your money…is that who you really are…
Of course I said…no…No…and…NO…
Today my life is much different…my TRUTH is…I manage money very well…I get paid once a month…I pay my bills immediately…I budget for the month…and I don’t use credit cards…at all…
So…now…when that script starts to play on the…Lies I’ve Told Myself Station…Bertha…quickly changes the channel…to…The Truth About Me Station…and I have to say…that station has a great beat…
Jane…
Are you listening to the Lies I’ve Told Myself Station…about money…or any other area of your life? Are you ready to change the Channel? Bertha and I are here to help with that…just send us a message janecarrollauthor@charter.net .
Love this. I think there may be a Truth About Peggy station somewhere. I need to tune in.
Peggy…you know there is…and I hear it’s a great station! 😉
Sometimes it’s a challenge to be completely honest with ourselves, no doubt about it… I’m needing to adjust the tuning some days more than others!
Isn’t that the truth?! I find that people lie about money more than anything else…most of it is just learned behavior. Time to break those lies and live our truth!
Love how you reframe the scenario to open the door for living your truth! Very inspiring!
Thank you so much Sheila and thanks for dropping in. 😉
I love this. I had a similar story. And am now eager to look at what other ones might be under the surface/running the show. Great post!
Darla…I love changing the stations…so liberating. Thanks for stopping in and sharing.
Thank you for this spirit elevating article and your truth-telling. So vulnerable and honest…thank you Jane
Thanks Debra…I appreciate it. And thanks for dropping by.
Jane, I used to be a spender because I had the money to do it. It is addicting. When I became a writer, it all came to a screeching halt. My husband suggested I quit work and begin my passion of writing. I did and have not looked back. The voice I hear speaking to me is very wise and has directed me each step of the way. I learned to take my attention off of money and place it on abundance. What a life shifting experience!
I love your story Debra…it’s not about money…not really. So happy for your writing and abundance!
Ooh, such an important post. And isn’t it so amazing how the stories we tell ourselves effect our lives?! I undid the food stories a few years ago, and lost 65 lbs. and freed up a lot of energy right away! Next up for me is the money story….
It is amazing, Mia…glad you changed the food story…one of the big three for sure…love…food…money. Good luck with money. 😉
Sometimes I’m amazed at how long it takes me to question those “truths” others dropped on me earlier in life. Life is lighter and easier without others’ baggage! Thanks for another good post.
AMEN! I actually changed my behavior years before I quit believing that story. Thanks for stopping by. 😉
I love the idea of “changing the station” whenever you tune into a negative frequency, but most of all, I love that you are now telling a more true and empowered story about yourself and your relationship with money! Way to go!! xxoo
I’m with you Stacey…funny I lived the new story for a long time before I was willing to quit listening to the lies. Good thing I had a strong intention!
Yes! I need tontine into this station, I am kind of stuck with thinking that I am useless when it comes to handle money. I borrowing Bertha for that one, promise to send her back 🙂
Rachel, she’s there for you whenever you need her. Just remember…the story you tell yourself is the life you create.
I love the voice of Bertha! I am new to your blog, stopping by from Visionary Female Authors group. I appreciated your honesty. This was one of the lies I told myself for years, as well. I liked the image of the radio station of lies I tell myself, will pay more attention to that this year. I look forward to learning more from Bertha and you this year.
Hello Minette…I’m so happy to ‘meet’ you and glad that the post was meaningful to you. It’s amazing that even after I had changed my behavior that I still listened to that station for a while. I know you will enjoy listening to ‘The Truth about Me’ station. 😉
