I usually cruise the net a bit before I write my blog…sometimes I’m looking for inspiration…sometimes I’m trying to catch up…sometimes I’m trying to wake up…and…sometimes I’m just plain procrastinating…
Today…was kind of a catch up day…but…lo and behold…I found some inspiration in the first Facebook post I saw…
My friend…Betty Reed Lynch…author of…Back to the Table with My Country Kitchen…had posted a recipe calling for a…stick of butter…which…for me was pretty straight forward…but…she had a friend from Australia…who asked…what is a stick of butter…
The question was quickly…and expertly answered…it is a quarter of a pound…four ounces…which her friend quickly roughly converted to grams…and what portion of the block her butter came in…it would be…
Now…the post…made me smile…and…that could have been that…except with…Bertha…it never is…no…she had to relate it to life on a bigger scale…
She says…that no matter how much we have in common with our international neighbors…we will always have differences…some big…some small…and…wouldn’t it be nice…if we would put away our…guns…and our…missiles…and…broach those differences…friend to friend…one stick of butter at a time…

That’s the best idea ever! Now where’s those recipe books?!?
Thanks, Peggy! I think we get to write those recipes as we go…one stick of butter and one cup of sugar at a time! Thankfully…I think eggs are universal…well…kinda sorta!
