Late yesterday afternoon…I thought I’d sit outside…and read…it was that perfect time of day…the temperature had cooled just a bit…and with the porch fan…it was really quite pleasant…the book I was reading was interesting…The Involvement of Emerson…by G. Mitchell Baker…and it had my full attention…

Until…I felt something on my left calf…

Mosquito…

I swatted at it and missed…I asked it nicely to just leave me alone…it didn’t…so…reluctantly…after several mis-swats…and a few leg shakes…I returned…inside…to the contemplation chair to continue my read…

Bertha…had quite a snicker about it…the mosquito was tiny…I don’t even have anything precise enough to measure it…and…I weighed…a hundred…and…well…I weighed a whole lot more than the mosquito…

In fact…we were even more mismatched than…David and Goliath…but…just like…David…the mosquito took me down…

Of course…she said that the situation reminded her of my life…doesn’t everything…because…according to…Bertha…I don’t have to be the most powerful…the richest…the best educated…to succeed…

I just need to be like the mosquito…with a single focus…not easily swatted away…not deterred by the first…or even third attempt…until…I…reach the goal…

Hmmm…I think she’s on to something…
