Every so often…Bertha…gets a wild hair…and a green thumb…I know…sounds weird and I have recommended that she see a doctor but she just rolls her eyes…only adding to my concern…that she has some exotic condition…
Anyway…all jokes aside…Bertha…is naturally concerned about the quality of our food…and looks for opportunities for me to do my part in supporting…healthy…local…food sources…of course…there is Mama’s garden…and that’s a biggie…there’s also the local Farmer’s Market…and my good friend Bea Kunz’s organic herb farm…Sage Hill Farms and Vintage Store…
This spring…Bertha’s…excited and insisting that we participate in Bea’s latest project…which combines her passion for organic gardening with her passion for children and teaching…she has started an organic gardening project at Curry Middle School in Jasper, Alabama…now…thankfully…I’m not available for digging the beds…so instead we have joined an event called…Author’s for Healthy Living…this event is the brainchild of another good friend of mine…Kim Emerson…and takes place…Saturday…April 27, 2013…on Facebook…
During the event…several authors will be offering a percentage of all books sold for the day to the Curry Middle School project…
I see it as a total…win-win…you get some great books…maybe win a prize or two…and…get to do your part to teach the next generation about organic gardening…without raising a shovel…what could be better than that…
Well…Bertha…just mentioned that you might be busy on Saturday…so she insists that we give a portion of all Bertha’s sold for the rest of the week to Bea’s work…and I agree completely…I think that’s twice this week I’ve agreed with her…scary…

Great way to get the message out for our project! I am happy to be another of the participating authors!
Thanks DeEtte…I know everyone will enjoy your books as much as you enjoy helping a good cause!
Great post Jane (and Bertha!). I am so looking forward to the event this Saturday 🙂
Me too, Kim! Bertha and I so appreciate the opportunity to give back to our community through your event in support of Bea’s project. (((HUGS))) to all!
