Last year… without consulting each other… my daughters and I began to find ways to reduce our use of plastic… now I have to say that none of us is perfect… least of all me… but I am making an effort…

So… I’m using glass storage containers instead of plastic… I got some really neat glass tea pictures with stopper lids… and… I armed myself with a trunk load of reusable grocery bags…

The only problem was… they stayed in the trunk most of the time… and I came home with groceries in plastic bags… oh… I did usually realize the folly of ways when I started through the checkout lane… but then it was too late to grab the bags… I have to say that I hit my forehead in that… I could have had a V-8 way… more than once…

Amazingly… Bertha was very supportive… telling me that every time I remembered… even if it was pretty much after the fact… that I was beginning to form a habit…

I decided to try harder… I started putting the bags on the front seat with my purse on top… and… yes… I still forgot them about half of the time… but that was better… my favorite grocery store has signs out front reminding you to reuse and recycle… so many times… I have turned around in the parking lot to get the bags out of the car…

And… then there are the times… that I have the bags in the cart… but forget to give them to the checker… Bertha does roll her eyes on those occasions

I’m probably at about 80% compliance… but I’m getting there… and as Bertha says… practice makes perfect… so I guess I need to shop a lot…

Or… not…

Why not grab a copy of one of the Bertha books… for yourself… for your friend… for the grumpy lady down the street… just click on her name… and she’ll take you where you need to go…
