I’ve been asked a time or two…well…maybe I haven’t…but I thought you Jane Carroll Authormight like to know…why I always write in the first person point of view…am I not concerned that people will think…I’m a basket case

I laugh…they’d be right…seriously…when I first started writing Bertha-Size Your Life!…that’s just the way it came out…all of the issues in the book weren’t mine…not at the moment…anyway…but…even though they were issues that were affecting others…it didn’t feel right to point my finger at them…telling them what to do…like I was some know-it-all

The truth of the matter is…although I haven’t always had the exact experience that I‘m writing about…I’ve experienced the emotion somewhere along the line…albeit wrapped in a different package…

So…when…Bertha…wants me to write about something…sometimes…it’s what I’m struggling with…and sometimes…not-so-much…but…I always know…I have to draw on my experience with that emotion…otherwise…I’m pointing that one finger in someone else’s direction…and…we all know where the other fingers are pointing…

So…I guess that’s why I write in first person…hmmm…who knew…

Jane
