I had a small bowl of ice cream this afternoon… and as I ate it… I happened to think… about the art of eating ice cream… too slow and it melts… too fast and it freezes your brain… so… not unlike Goldilocks in an ice cream parlor… I got it just right…
Now… that may not seem important… and maybe it’s even a task best unmastered… except… for you know who… that’s right…
Bertha… saunters by… and tells me she that it reminds her of working towards goals… too slow… procrastination and inertia set in… too fast… and impulsive choices and mistakes take over… steady at the helm… and… things move forward…
I have to say I was impressed that she got all of that watching me eat a bowl of ice cream… even if it was my favorite… Otter Paws… but I felt I had to explain to her… I’m retired… I really don’t have any major goals that I am working towards… that’s when her eyes rolled… as they often do…
So… she reminded me… of my desire to meet people in this new community… of just this morning when I rolled up my yoga mat with a desire to unroll it more often… she said… they don’t always have to be… SMART goals… it’s just the things I do on an average day… cleaning a closet… buying groceries… eating ice cream… there’s a rhyme and a rhythm…
