I was excited this weekend to find…my first zinnia bloom of the season…it’s lovely…a deep orangey-red…smallish…but…pretty perfect…this morning it is joined by…deep pink…light pink…purplish pink…friends…all of which make a nice bouquet in my planter…
Bertha…smiled when she saw the first bloom…and said…what else…it reminded her of my life…
She said that a few weeks back…when I planted a packet of mixed zinnia seeds…I really had no idea…what I would get…they could have all been the same color…they could have been the one color that I don’t really like that much…
Her point was…I planted the seeds…watered them…made sure they got enough sunlight…pulled the weeds that threatened them…all without any guarantee of exactly what they would be when they grew…
That’s when she pulled it back to my life…reminding me…that I’ve been planting a lot of seeds lately…in various areas of my life…and…although I have no idea exactly how they will grow…what they will look like…all I really have to do is…water them…make sure they get enough sunlight…pull the weeds that threaten them…and…then…be delighted with the results…
Hmmm…I hope they are as lovely as the zinnias…
