This has been the best week…the kids at school are starting to get excited about Christmas…and they haven’t had enough sugar yet to get really cranky…it’s a magical time…especially in Kindergarten…
The Elf on the Shelf has arrived…he arrived over the Thanksgiving break…direct from Santa…and was waiting for them on Monday morning…as you can imagine…he has created quite a stir…as he mysteriously moves around…anytime they leave the room…and I get to move him during their lunch…then I nonchalantly drop by their class as they are getting ready for PE so they can tell me that he has…flown…yet again…across the room…
Now…I would be tempted to say…it doesn’t get any better than this…but…Bertha…says that even when things are wonderful…they can…and do…get even better…and they did…
For all their spirit…Kindergarten doesn’t have a…real…Christmas tree…what they do have…is a coat rack/palm tree…yes…it is a bit of an oddity…but it matches the jungle theme they have going…anyway…I’ve digressed…
Yesterday…the teacher hung the ornaments that the kids have been making on the palm tree…as she was making festive chains to go on it…three little girls…stood by the tree…with their arms around each other…singing…something to this effect…
Oh Christmas tree…oh Christmas tree…how I love you…oh Christmas tree…
I’m here to tell you…it was the sweetest thing…and would have melted even Scrooge’s heart…I wanted to take a picture of it…but…alas…can’t take pictures of the babies…so…I settled for one of the tree…it does look a little better in person…and…I think it stood up a little taller…and fluffed itself from all the love in the room…
Of course…it was only a moment before someone was trying to touch Orphan…that’s what they named the elf…and the concert was over…except…it will never really be over…as long as I remember and savor the moment…that’s the beauty of memories…they can warm your heart long after the events are gone…
Oh…and Orphan was in the tree when they got back from PE…how does he do that…

I love this story! I love kids, too, and this story blesses me! They are so open with their excitement! Thank you for the bright spot today!
DeEtte,
Thanks so much! It’s so easy to get caught up with the busy-ness of my job that I forget to look at the children I am blessed to serve. They truly are a delight!
Oh I just love this Jane!!
Thanks, Arlene…it has truly been a magical week at school.
