I admit itā¦my mind goes in funny circles sometimesā¦okayā¦all the timeā¦geezā¦butā¦itās just that words catch my attentionā¦they make me curiousā¦they invite me to stop what Iām doing and play with themā¦
So itās no wonder that the expressionā¦warts and allā¦grabbed hold of me yesterdayā¦sending my imagination out for a strollā¦
Where did this rather odd expression come fromā¦I know what it meansā¦take me as I amā¦the goodā¦the badā¦the uglyā¦Iām not going to pretendā¦not for youā¦not for anyoneā¦butā¦who said it firstā¦
Could it have been the Frogā¦about to be kissed by the Princessā¦or the less attractive Princess who said it to the Frogā¦maybe sheād gotten the warts from kissing all those other frogsā¦while looking for the magical oneā¦
Orā¦maybe it was a green-faced witchā¦meeting a blind date at the doorā¦but that was gonna send me in another directionā¦why do we think witches always have warts on their nosesā¦hmmmā¦
I could tell this getting out of controlā¦so I did the sensible thingā¦I Googledā¦and surely enoughā¦it was thereā¦no frogsā¦no princessesā¦no witchesā¦
The phrase is attributed to Oliver Cromwellā¦who in the 1600ās instructed an artist to paint him as he wasā¦warts and allā¦seems as though airbrushing of celebs was popular even back thenā¦

Now Iām wonderingā¦if they were airbrushingā¦what did those Rubens chicks really look likeā¦and it aināt prettyā¦but I digressā¦
Back to Oliverā¦and a big thank you for being brave enoughā¦to step out there and be yourselfā¦for having the self-confidence to not succumb to the vanity of the timesā¦and be portrayed exactly how you wereā¦
Butā¦I have to askā¦how did you get that big wart on your chinā¦did you kiss a frogā¦itās okay if you didā¦Iāve kissed a few myselfā¦
