Spread the love
And all through the houseā¦
No one was spendingā¦
Not even the spouseā¦(yoursā¦not mineā¦it rhymedā¦okayā¦geez)
The purse strings were tightenedā¦
Secured with a knotā¦
Hoping no bill was somehow forgotā¦
Working for the school system has come with some adjustmentsā¦one of them is getting paid once a monthā¦the cool thing isā¦almost magicallyā¦all of my bills come due right at paydayā¦soā¦I pay all the bills for the monthā¦and then live off of whatās left.
Simpleā¦right? Usuallyā¦but not always. Occasionally I find that there is more month than moneyā¦and althoughā¦technically there is still some money in the bankā¦I really donāt want to spend any more than I have toā¦just in caseā¦so I tighten the purse stringsā¦and make-do as my Mama would sayā¦
Of courseā¦Bertha points out that there is an upside to not going to the grocery store for a few daysā¦I get to be creative in my cookingā¦and the pantry and freezer get cleaned outā¦think Cornbreadgateā¦
I also start to look at needs and wants in a different lightā¦whatā¦there are only four dishwasher tablets leftā¦panicā¦Bertha points out that I only run it once a weekā¦ahhhā¦a monthās worth leftā¦
Whatā¦only six garbage bagsā¦Bertha again points out that I only use two a weekā¦ahhhā¦Iāll make itā¦
Whatā¦almost out of tea bagsā¦Bertha points out that itās okayā¦I mostly drink waterā¦
Whatā¦only two rolls of toilet paperā¦laterā¦gatorā¦Bertha and I are on the way to see Mr. Whippleā¦weāve gotta squeeze some Charminā¦some things can’t be left to chance!
