There was a time…before social media…when I thought the world went to bed when I did…and got up when I did…and…nothing happened in between…
Well…that’s not completely true…I have worked night shift on a few occasions…although…I must say it was kind of eerie to me when all the patients went to sleep and we turned the lights down low…I also served on the Grand Jury one time…and discovered that a whole lot of…something…was going on all around me in the wee hours…which reminded me to lock my doors before turning in…
But…I’ve digressed…and that really isn’t what I’m thinking about…it’s the other side of the world…they’re on a completely different time zone than…me…
Now…it’s not that I wasn’t aware of the time differences…I didn’t sleep through all of my classes in school…and…I understand the concept of…jet lag…it’s just that until recently…I never gave it much thought…that when I was sleeping…my friends in the other parts of the world…were busily starting their day…and…in some places…it’s a whole ‘nother day…
Twitter…has really brought the concept home to me…thanks to Twitter…I have good…friends…all over the world…and…the time differences now impact me…I easily know that the United Kingdom is six hours ahead of me…so many of my friends there are going to bed by the time I get home from work…and…they are usually up and ready to tweet when I get up at three…so it all works out…
Bertha…says it’s a lot like my life…it never stops…even when I think it’s standing still…it’s not…there is movement…there is activity…the Twitter feed…is continually scrolling…
