Some days…it doesn’t pay to get out of bed…
I’ve heard that expression all my life…but…this morning…as I was snuggled under my covers…giving myself excuses of why I should stay there…instead of hopping up to start my day…the expression floated through my sleepy brain…and I had to think…hmmm…is the reverse of that statement ever true…do parents ever stand at the side of the bed…money in hand…enticing their children to get up…
That certainly wasn’t the case growing up in my house…where Mama woke us with an off-key round of…Wake up Little Girls…which was quite effective…we’d do anything to make the singing stop…in fact…it worked so well that I used it with my own girls…much to their chagrin…
I’m not sure there’s a life lesson in today’s post…I think…Bertha…may have slept in…refusing to get up when my bladder finally convinced my body that it was indeed…time…
So…maybe…just maybe…we should all…belt out a chorus of…Wake up Little Bertha…just to get her started…

Awww I am just imagining you singing to your girls to help them get out of bed! Very sweet memories you share here xx
LOL…Christy…I’m not sure their memories are so ‘sweet’…but they did get up!
