I read a story this weekend…about a Japanese farmer who was able to buy a horse…his neighbor said…how fortunate…he said…we’ll see…
The horse ran away…his neighbor said…how unfortunate…he said…we’ll see…the horse returned with two wild horses…his neighbor said…how fortunate…he said…we’ll see…
One of the wild horses broke his son’s leg…his neighbor said…how unfortunate…he said…we’ll see…
The army came by…drafting all the able bodied young men…to go to war…the son had a broken leg and couldn’t go…
And…there the story ended…although according to…Bertha…it could have gone on forever…because life continues to happen…
Of course…the story reminded her of my life…and…how…like the neighbor…I often…assign…good or bad…to events as they transpire…rather than just accepting them…and…allowing them…to offer their gift…to my life…
I look back…and…I do see so many things…that I thought were…bad…as they happened…only to see in hindsight…that they were a blessing in disguise…and…there are just as many times…that in the moment I thought were blessings…that just didn’t turn out that way…
So…Bertha’s…gentle reminder to me today…is to experience life…with an open heart and mind…and…to allow it to unfold…in its own perfect way…
We’ll see…

Excellent! This is so true. Acceptance is the key. I’m borrowing those two little, powerful words. Between yours and Bertha’s combined knowledge and advice, I may grow up to be a fine woman some day. Keep um coming!
LOL…you grew up to be a fine woman…long before you met Bertha! It is kind of interesting…to look backwards…and see how things in our lives have developed…the what we thought was…good…bad…indifferent…and the results they actually brought. Hugs…my friend…so glad you stopped in.
